Hydroacoustic Characterisation of the AMC Cavitation Tunnel
This paper presents recent results from an Industry-University-Defence collaborative project whose aim is to characterise the hydroacoustic environment of the Australian Maritime College Cavitation Tunnel. After summarising the operation of the tunnel, a methodology for measuring and processing the hydroacoustic measurements is presented that includes a technique for reducing the level of turbu...
متن کاملNumerical Investigation of a Pumpjet Propulsor Based on CFD
In this study an attempt has been made to study the hydrodynamic performance of pumpjet propulsor. Numerical investigation based on the Reynolds Averaged NavierStokes (RANS) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method using structured grid, SST kω turbulence model has been carried out. The grid independence inspection is applied to verify accuracy of numerical simulation. The numerical prediction...
متن کاملInvestigating to Cavitation Behavior of Orifice Tunnel
Strong velocity scale effect on cavitation for orifice tunnels was revealed through comparing the results of model tests in vacuum tanks and that of prototype measurements at construction site. A new formula predicting incipient cavitation number of orifice rings is presented in this paper. The predicted data for the prototype scale are coincident well with the prototype measured one.
متن کاملRecent Observations on Cavitation and Cavitation Noise
This paper is primarily concerned with the acoustics of traveling bubble cavitation around foils or headforms. We begin with observations of individual bubbles and the acoustic signals they emit, our purpose being to identify areas of research which would enhance our tlriderstaridirig of the history of individual bubbles. Then we present some riumerical integrations of the Rayleigh/Plesset equa...
متن کاملOn Cavitation in Elastodynamics
Motivated by the works of Ball (1982) and Pericak-Spector and Spector (1988), we investigate singular solutions of the compressible nonlinear elastodynamics equations. These singular solutions contain discontinuities in the displacement field and can be seen as describing fracture or cavitation. We explore a definition of singular solution via approximating sequences of smooth functions. We use...
